Good News Challenge– day 6

This was a hard day. The Ukraine conflict, journalists kidnapped in South Sudan and jailed in Burundi, missing students in Mexico and teenage girls on a First Nations reservation outside Montreal still missing, people spouting cynicism the day after the Greek election (and honestly you’d have to be a real Pollyanna not to, at least until they’ve been in power for awhile). Petty crime, real and fake scandals and people getting screwed over. Antisemitism, Islamophobia, backstabbing and plane crashes. Even my usually reliable sources of good news– BBC Magazine, the Democracy Now digest and so on– didn’t deliver this time.

I had to go through two hours’ worth of tweets to find this story about a Kenyan trans woman learning jewelry design in Toronto.

The Ebola virus, computer viruses and the viruses of cynicism and dumbing-down. At least this JPG went viral:
