Ah, January 1, those hours when you’ve done nothing yet, so you know you’ve done nothing wrong…when the possibilities are endless…
Here are my resolutions for this year:
-take up a new physical activity, probably kung fu
-Go on at least one real adventure. The Maritimes? Ireland? Istanbul? Back to Haiti?
– study a chapter of Spanish, a chapter of Russian and a chapter of Krèyol each day
– take Arabic if the opportunity presents itself
-Read The Wretched of the Earth and Things Fall Apart
-pay as many bills as possible on time
-file invoices and time cards on time so I have something to pay bills with #freelanceproblems
-spend less money on needless extravagance (café food, new books…) so as to have more in the bank for important things like paying down my student loan, driving school, kung fu and adventures
– clean the kitchen and the bathroom on a regular schedule, not just when I have guests or when it gets gross
-start eating breakfast again
-try to be as articulate, extroverted and shiny in my personal life as I am in my professional life
-Get my learner’s permit (definitely) and my provisional licence (if time permits).
– a meta one for all the bloggers out there: when I want to write about an event, I promise to do it as soon as I get home, even if it means staying up late, instead of waiting days to do it, which I find kind of takes the shine out of my observations. It also sometimes means posts don’t get written at all. I have four or five posts from over a year ago mostly written…in my head. None of that this year.
