“On Writing Well”

Stealing a few minutes to write at the end of a long day at the CBC Radio studio. It has been long enough since I updated this blog that all 10 people who actually read this thing have been starting to worry. I’m fine, I’m not on a down swing, I’ve just been really busy with work and singing and life…

Because I’m not in the studio regularly, I am constantly moving around from desk to desk. This week, I’m at the desk of a colleague I really look up to. She has a quote above her desk that I find really reassuring and worthy to be shared with all the writers…

“Writing is hard work. A clear sentence is no accident. Very few sentences come out right the first time, or even the third time. Remember this in moments of despair. If you find writing is hard, it’s because it *is* hard. It’s one of the hardest things people do.”
