Random Africa Thoughts

1) The Universal Declaration of Human Rights should be reworked to give everyone the right not just to Life in the sense of “the opposite of death” but Life, as opposed to just Existence.

2) African destinies: which of these two is the most difficult: to be born into a life of repetitive, birth-till-death farm labour in an isolated, sleepy rural village and be barely conscious that an outside world exists, or to be in the urban lower middle class, informed and educated but still short on money and prospects, and be constantly confronted with the presence of a better world (richer and easier in a lot of ways, anyway) just out of your reach?
